Treasure Island - October 2025

In October 2025, the Dixon Performing Arts Center welcomed a captivating rendition of "Treasure Island," a full-length adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s beloved classic pirate adventure. This original production stood out not only for its engaging storyline but also for its unique musical components, featuring original music composed by talented musician Jeff Lewis and Angi Wolf, who also took on the role of musical director. The production was directed by Angel Gatchel who guided the cast through this creative journey.

Treasure Island showcased the talents of 26 young actors, whose performances breathed new life and humor into familiar, iconic characters of the story. Additionally, one adult actor took on the pivotal role of the narrator, adding depth to the narrative. This performance was particularly significant as it marked the first theatrical endeavor for many of the young participants, making it a memorable milestone in their budding artistic careers. The combination of dynamic storytelling, original music, and the enthusiasm of a fresh cast made "Treasure Island" an unforgettable experience for both the performers and the audience alike.

This production was made possible, in part, by a SCAC grant awarded to DCT.

Alice's Wonderland - June 2025

Alice's Wonderland premiered in June of 2025 at the Dixon Performing Arts Center and marked Dixon Community Theater's jump from play to musicals. An original production, written by Kelly Pidgeon James and Cheryl Sommers, with musical direction by Brett Hendrickson, the story follows the original Alice's granddaughter, also named Alice, as she struggles to find her place in post-World War One London. Her journey eventually leads her to Wonderland where she is confronted by many of the classic characters from the original story, as well as a variety of new ones. Through these encounters, Alice begins to discover herself and starts to understand that the old adage is true, the world is what we make of it.

This magical, heartwarming musical featured original songs written by Kelly Pidgeon James with musical accompaniment by Kyle Jackson, as well as "The Flower Song" which was written and performed by Angi Wolf along with Bentley Abrew.
