SHOW INFORMATION SUMMARY - “Be Weird. Be Wicked. Be Part of the Family!”
Dixon Community Youth Theater is thrilled to announce auditions for The Addams Family Musical Young@Part®, a delightfully spooky musical comedy based on the beloved characters created by Charles Addams. Young performers ages 8–18 are invited to join the Addams family and bring this hilarious, heartwarming, and wonderfully weird story to life on stage.
Featuring music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, the show follows Wednesday Addams as she falls in love with a “normal” boy and introduces his family to her delightfully eccentric clan.
Directed by Kelly Pidgeon James, with assistance from Stevie Carr and choreography by Isabelle Reeder, this production provides young performers the opportunity to build acting, singing, dancing, teamwork, and confidence skills while creating lasting friendships.
Auditions will be held July 12-14, and on July 19th with callbacks on Monday July 20th & Tuesday July 21st, 2026, at Dixon High School Room D302. Rehearsals begin the first week of August, with performances scheduled for October 9–11 and October 16–18, 2026.
No previous theater experience is required, and performers of all experience levels are encouraged to audition.
Dixon Community Youth Theater, a program of Dixon Community Theater, is dedicated to providing affordable and accessible performing arts opportunities for local youth. This production is funded in part by a generous grant from the Dixon Women’s Improvement Club.
There is a $35 costume and materials fee per participant.
THE PRODUCTION TEAM
DIRECTOR - KELLY PIDGEON JAMES
Kelly Pidgeon James has served on the Dixon Community Theater Board of Directors since the organization’s incorporation in 2024. A passionate advocate for arts education and community engagement, she has directed multiple youth theater productions, taught theater classes for young performers, and facilitated the after-school enrichment theater program at Anderson Elementary School. Kelly believes that participation in the performing arts helps young people develop creativity, confidence, teamwork, communication skills, and lifelong friendships.
Her dedication to the children of Dixon, combined with her commitment to expanding access to the arts, has been a driving force behind her work with Dixon Community Theater. Through her leadership, she strives to create meaningful artistic experiences that inspire young performers to discover their talents and express themselves creatively. Kelly is thrilled to once again work with a talented cast of young performers as they bring The Addams Family Musical Young@Part® to life and looks forward to helping them create lasting memories, build new friendships, and share a fun-filled theatrical experience with the community.
ASSISTANT - STEVIE CARR
Stevie Carr is excited to be assisting with The Addams Family Musical Young@Part® at Dixon Community Theater. A familiar face both onstage and behind the scenes, Stevie has appeared in numerous productions, including Cinderella and Legally Blonde, and has also worked in sound design, stage management, and other technical theater roles.
Stevie is thrilled to work alongside Kelly and the creative team to help create a fun and memorable experience for this cast. Passionate about giving back to the theater community that has given him so much, he hopes to inspire young performers as they begin their own artistic journeys. Stevie can’t wait to see all the talent that auditions for this delightfully spooky production!
CHOREOGRAPHER -ISABELLE REEDER
Isabelle (Bella) Reeder is thrilled to be choreographing The Addams Family Musical Young@Part® for Dixon Community Theater. While this is her first time serving as choreographer for a production of this scale, she is incredibly excited for the opportunity to work with such a talented group of young performers and help bring this wonderfully spooky story to life.
Isabelle has trained as a dancer for 14 years, competing and performing throughout California. With experience in tap, ballet, hip-hop, jazz, lyrical, and musical theater dance, she looks forward to incorporating a variety of styles into the production while helping each performer grow in confidence and shine on stage. Isabelle currently teaches dance classes at River City Dance Academy in West Sacramento and is passionate about sharing her love of dance with the next generation of performers. She hopes this production will be a fun, rewarding, and memorable experience for everyone involved.
PRODUCER - LYDIA SMITH
Lydia Smith recently joined the Dixon Community Theater Board of Directors and is excited to serve as co-producer of The Addams Family Musical Young@Part® alongside Kelly Pidgeon James. Having previously performed in The Addams Family herself, Lydia brings firsthand knowledge of the show and a unique perspective that will help guide this production from rehearsals to opening night.
Lydia is passionate about supporting the arts and creating opportunities for young performers to learn, grow, and build confidence through theater. She looks forward to sharing her experience with the cast and helping create a fun, welcoming, and memorable environment for everyone involved. With her enthusiasm for the production and commitment to the success of its performers, Lydia is excited to help bring this musical to life for audiences and participants alike.

Synopsis:
A musical comedy! Wednesday Addams, known for her love of darkness, has fallen in love with a sweet boy from a seemingly respectable and ordinary family. As Wednesday reveals she is in love, family members begin to find out, forcing Gomez, her father, to keep a secret from his love, Morticia. Meanwhile, Pugsley and Grandma scheme and Uncle Fester relates by finding a love of his own. Everything will change on the dreadful night the Addams host a dinner for Wednesday’s boyfriend and his ‘normal’ family. What could go wrong?

tHE ADDAMS FAMILY ANCESTORS
tHE ANCESTORS
In this production, the Ancestors serve as the advisors or support system to the living members of the Addams clan. Many of the Ancestors have individual solos within songs as well as lines. Each one has their own personality and look, as they are supposed to represent Addams family relatives that lived over the span of centuries. These roles give us the opportunity to really have fun creating costumes and character personalities for the wider cast.
Anyone who auditions should also rehearse the "When you're an Addams song ahead of the auditions as well as any other character's song. The entire cast sings "when you're an Addams" as it is the opening number.
