Past productions

Alice's Wonderland

Alice's Wonderland premiered in June of 2025 at the Dixon Performing Arts Center and marked Dixon Community Theater's jump from play to musicals. An original production, written by Kelly Pidgeon James and Cheryl Sommers, with musical direction by Brett Hendrickson, the story follows the original Alice's granddaughter, also named Alice, as she struggles to find her place in post-World War One London. Her journey eventually leads her to Wonderland where she is confronted by many of the classic characters from the original story, as well as a variety of new ones. Through these encounters, Alice begins to discover herself and starts to understand that the old adage is true, the world is what we make of it.

This magical, heartwarming musical featured original songs written by Kelly Pidgeon James with musical accompaniment by Kyle Jackson, as well as "The Flower Song" which was written and performed by Angi Wolf along with Bentley Abrew. The amazing cast featured Maya Clossick as Alice, Angi Wolf as the Queen of Hearts, Alena Chambers as the White Rabbit & the Queen of Spades, Joshua Benson as the Caterpillar, Christian Espinosa as Jack/ Jack of Hearts, Jenn Clossick as Lorina, Angie Abrew as the Cheshire Cat, Stacy Green as Nana A (the original Alice) and many, many more talented actors of all ages. Hamlet

Hamlet premiered at the Dixon Performing Arts Center in February of 2025. This reimagined and modernized version of Shakespeare's tragedy stayed relatively true to the original storyline with the more modern elements being the language, soundtrack and costumes. Adapted by Abel Cornejo,  Hamlet brought many talented actors to the Dixon stage including David Cripe Jr. as Hamlet, Olivia Smith as Ophelia, Yuliana Vasilenko as Queen Gertrude, Chris Tan as Laertes, David Cripe Sr. as King Claudius, and more. The modern soundtrack, incorporated video sequence and choreographed dance routine rounded out Abel Cornejo's vision for his show. Photographs were taken courtesy of Jessi Davis @contactmejessid

The Little Town of Christmas by Pat Cook

Dixon Community Theater's first youth production took place on the Tremont Elementary School stage over three days in December of 2024. The Little Town of Christmas, a holiday comedy by playwright Pat Cook, is a compilation of comedic vignettes centered around various characters living in a winter holiday themed town on Christmas Eve. Directed by Kelly Pidgeon James, this full length play had added elements including a performance by Maya and Jenn Clossick who sang "Sleigh Ride", and an original version of "The Night Before Christmas" called "Twas Christmas Eve in Dixon", written by Kelly Pidgeon James which served as the finale of the show.

Wanting to make the most of the experience for the children participating, their families, and the community, Angel Gatchel (The Narrator), Lewis Wentworth (Santa Calus) and Kelly Pidgeon James stretched the holiday theme beyond the stage by offering pictures with Santa, a Santa letter station complete with a mailbox to the north pole where children could mail their letters and receive a response from St. Nick, and a Christmas tree forest, decorated with ornaments, many of which the cast made themselves in the weeks leading up to the play. Showstoppers

"Showstoppers" was an exquisite, one-night-only benefit concert coordinated by Kelly Pidgeon James and hosted by Cheryl Sommers and John Mackenzie. This spectacular event showcased some of the most gifted vocal artists from the region, each delivering breathtaking performances. The concert invited performers to select their favorite Broadway songs, creating a captivating and diverse musical experience that resonated with the audience. Every note sung added to the evening's magic, leaving an indelible mark on all who attended.  Among the talented performers at "Showstoppers" were Sofia Rosario, Ramana Vieira, Andee Thorpe, James Tokano, Bentley Abrew, Angi Wolf, Gina Lloyd, Jenn and Maya Clossick, Pam and John McKenzie, and many others. Musical accompaniment was provided by Kyle Jackon, with sound design and engineering provided by Gary Erwin.  Photographs contributed by Nick Brown
